Biography
Yinan's doctoral thesis explores how perfectionism, motivation, and passion shape proactive workplace behaviors and contribute to employee well-being and performance. Yinan holds an MSc in Management from Warwick Business School, University of Warwick, and a BSc in Global Business from Wenzhou-Kean University. Her work has been published in journals including Sustainability and the Journal of International Business and Cultural Studies, and she has presented at international conferences such as the European Congress of Work and Organisational Psychology.
At Exeter, Yinan was a Postgraduate Teaching Associate, contributing to modules such as Organizational Development and Managing Change and Crisis. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and an active member of the Exeter Centre for Leadership (ExCL), where she engages in research on responsible leadership, inclusivity, well-being, and the future of work. In addition to her academic career, Yinan has professional experience in international trade, project management, and brand strategy, which further enriches her research and teaching.
Research Interest
Yinan’s research examines how individual differences and motivation shape workplace behaviors, well-being, and performance. In particular, her work explores the roles of perfectionism, work motivation, and passion in driving proactive behaviors such as job crafting, and how these factors can either support or hinder employee engagement and organizational outcomes.
Beyond individual behavior, Yinan is also interested in the role of motivation in Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprises, with a focus on how it drives innovation and supports long-term social and environmental impact. Looking ahead, her research aims to investigate how personality traits and motivational factors influence leadership behaviors and organizational success.
