Biography

Dr. Rob Kim Marjerison was born in Alberta, Canada and immigrated to the US with his family when he was 5 years of age and grow up in Utah, Hawaii and California. After completing a Master’s in Public Administraion at California State University he worked as an Auditor and Fraud Investigator for the US Dept of Labor. Finding that work tedious he ran away to join the merchant marine, and spent 12 years at sea, starting as a waiter and working his way up to become a senior officer in the hotel deparment on cruise ships sailing worldwide.

Leaving the life at sea to raise a family Rob earned a Master of Science in Information Systems at Louisiana State University and joined KPMG as a Senior Consultant in the Information Risk Management division where he led IT audits on some of the largest school districts and hospitals in the US. Again finding audit work tedious, he joining a small satellite communications company where he was responsible for growth to over $100m in annual revenue, ultimately acquired by ATT. Rob served as Vice President and COO of ATT International Maritime services for ten years providing voice and data services to ships as sea.

His two sons grown, Rob pursued his dream of working in higher education, earned a PhD in International Business from the International School of Management in Paris, France and headed East to Asia.

Currently an Asst Professor of Global Business at Wenzhou-Kean University in China. Rob is Thesis Advisor and teaches Global Business and Entrepreneurship courses. For the last eleven years he has been teaching Global Business and related business courses internationally in Bhutan, Mexico, India, Korea and China. He serves as PhD Advisor, on PhD Committees and is a reviewer for several journals.

Research Interests

His research interests include: Sino-US Trade, Assessment of of Entrepreneurial Business Proposals, Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprize, Commercialization of Chinese Social Media, and Cross Cultural Negotiation.
